The Access to Medicines and Medical Devices APPG has written to the Treasury calling for a permanent VAT exemption for medicines provided free of charge for compassionate use through the Early Access to Medicines Scheme. The APPG is working to highlight the risk that current VAT rules could deter pharmaceutical companies from participating, reducing access to life saving treatment for NHS patients with life threatening or seriously debilitating conditions who have exhausted other options.
